Each relationship holds an image in a mirror

And that mirror is a reflection of another relationship

And that mirror another.

An infinite number of mirrors it seems.

His gravity holds her even as he strikes her

With a hand, a word, a feeling

He makes her feel

Unworthy

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’ll do better!” She cries.

When all she has done is love him.

He manipulates every word of hers

Turning it masterfully into something

Else.

Malevolence.

He takes her beauty and taints it

Spilling his poison and stirring.

He forces her to ingest his poison

And then wonders why she is poisoned.

Power.

This manipulating feels powerful.

It is his addiction just as he is her addiction.

He’s always sorry afterward

But sorry afterward doesn’t prevent the future

Sorries.

Unknowingly, she enables his addiction

She lets him abuse her

Over and over and over again.

Over and over and over again.

She is the vein that opens to the needle.

She sees his pain and wants to fix it

But the more she tries to fix it

The deeper it becomes

With every fix the addiction becomes

Stronger.

The Darkness

It’s gravity holds him even as it strikes him.

With a hand, a word, a feeling

It makes him feel unworthy.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’ll do better!” He cries.

But he doesn’t know how to find his way

Out of this gravity that is pulling him

Down.

He strikes her and he feels a little better.

He strikes her again and he feels even better.

“I’m sorry,” she cries.  “It’s all my fault.”

Ahhhh. He feels even better.

Each relationship holds an image in a mirror

And that mirror is a reflection of another relationship

And that mirror another.

An infinite number of mirrors it seems.

Time to break the mirror!
